EU Funds for Elon Musk? My Question to the EU Commission

Elon Musk is the richest man in the world. He has made it his goal to weaken (if not destroy) the European Union. And yet, he is a recipient of EU funds. At least one of his companies (Tesla) is subsidized with European taxpayers’ money.

To find out how much money Musk’s companies actually receive from the EU, I have submitted a written question to the EU Commission. I have asked for a detailed list of EU funds allocated over the past five years to companies owned or controlled by Elon Musk— including SpaceX, Tesla, X (formerly Twitter), Neuralink, The Boring Company, xAI, and any other relevant entities linked to him.

This list should include grants, tenders, subsidies, and any other payments made in this regard, including funds spent on advertising on social media platforms owned or controlled by him. The Commission now has three weeks to respond.

For me, it’s clear: The European Union should not be making million-euro payments to those who aim to dismantle it. We have much better uses for European taxpayers’ money!

My question to the EU Commission in full:

Subject: EU funding to Elon Musk’s companies

Can the Commission provide a detailed list of EU funding allocated to companies owned or controlled by Elon Musk (SpaceX, Tesla, X (formerly Twitter), Neuralink, The Boring Company, xAI and any other relevant entities linked to Mr. Musk) over the past five years? This should include grants, tenders, subsidies and any other payments made in this regard, including funds spent on advertising on social media platforms owned or controlled by him. Please specify the amount, purpose, type of funding and the relevant EU programs under which the funds were allocated.

The European Union should not be making million-euro payments to those who aim to dismantle it.

More

35,000 lobbyists are attempting to influence EU laws. Commissioners switch position into the private sector. MPs work as lobbyists on a part-time basis. From my time at Transparency International I know that the EU is still better than the member states in many respects.  However, there is also a need for far more transparency in the EU.
